Georgios Emmanouil Appointed Honorary Scientific Advisor to the Governor of Thessaly on Regional Development Issues

Georgios Emmanouil has been appointed as an honorary scientific advisor on regional development issues following a meeting at the office of the Governor of Thessaly, Dimitris Kouretas. He is expected to contribute his expertise to the Regional Innovation Hub, the Agri-Food Partnership, the European Working Group on the Mediterranean Diet, as well as to the organization of the Second International Conference on the History and Culture of Thessaly.
During the last four years, Georgios Emmanouil served as an official at the Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy (DG REGIO) of the European Union in Brussels, within the team responsible for South-East Europe. In the past, he also served as General Director at the Greek Ministry of Interior with responsibilities for the Regions of Macedonia and Thrace, Director of the Interreg Managing Authority for transnational and Cross-Border cooperation programmes involving neighboring and European countries, and Director of the Managing Authority of the Regional Operational Programme (ROP) of Thessaly.
Georgios Emmanouil thanked Dimitris Kouretas for the honorary proposal to join the regional administration team and contribute on a voluntary basis to the common effort for the resilience and sustainable development of Thessaly within both the national and European framework.
